The Conference Empty The Conference

Post by Raiya Laren October 7th 2010, 12:25 pm

Observation Lounge, Deck 1
1400 hours, Day 2

Raiy strode into her lounge with an armful of PADDs, and a primp fresh uniform. After her late night drinks with the XO she'd gotten up an hour or so late (As is the Commanding Officer's Prerogative, of course!) and taken a long hot bath to clear her mind of the alcohol. Now dressed in a brand new uniform the ships quartermaster had been kind enough to send her, and her hair done in it's usually loose fashion she prepared the large observation lounge the Perseus sported for the ships first Senior Staff Conference.

"I need a yeoman," She grumbled as she passed a PADD to each chair- which were of the same color as those on the bridge, but a more comfortable style- that a Senior Officer would be sitting at with herself at the head of the table, and the XO to her right, and 2XO Doctor to her right. She chuckled at herself as she finished. Her she was a little over a day into her Command and she already complaining about what she didn't have. Sitting next her Lagashi doctor might be a little awkward after last night though, and Raiya still wasn't sure what to do about that entirely...

She took her seat at the head of the table, and looked out at the brilliant view of Luna the lounge offered, waiting for her officers to show up......

The Conference Empty Re: The Conference

Post by Eun Ae Kye October 7th 2010, 12:30 pm

Eun was quivering slightly as she entered the conference room, unsure of how things would go with her sitting next to the captain, considering how awkward the previous night had been for them. Arun was, to her knowledge, the only one who knew about it, but on a ship of this size, rumors could spread quickly.

Doubly so considering how juicy it was-the CMO and 2XO having a lesbian crush on the CO? Certainly an interesting bit of gossip. An audibile gulp escaped her mouth as she made her way over to her seat to the right of the table's head.

The Conference Empty Re: The Conference

Post by Rippy October 8th 2010, 5:12 am

Jay had just arrived on the Perseus earlier that morning, but after reporting into the bridge he had went to his quarters to change into his new Strategic Ops uniform. After a short nap, he checked the clock in the corner of his quarters and saw the staff meeting was in fifteen minutes. He quickly fluffed his hair, trying to fix his small amount of bedhead, and then left the quarters, headed for the conference room. He received a few respectful nods, salutes, and hellos. Whest stepped into the turbolift.

"Conference room 1," he said, and the lift whooshed off. He arrived a few moments later and stepped out. He took the next left into the Conference room, where he saw his Bajoran commander in a pristine red command uniform, the Chief Medical Officer, and the Chief Tactical Officer. Jay headed over to where his CO was. "Commander Laren, nice to meet you. Lieutenant junior grade Jay Whest, Chief of Strat Ops."

Jay smiled at her, nodded, and took a seat next to the Chief Tactical and Security officer. "Nice to meet you, Lieutenant. I believe we'll be working closely in the coming days."

The Conference Empty Re: The Conference

Post by Arunjezeb Ameen October 8th 2010, 11:34 am

Arun adjusted the cuffs to the uniform tunic as he quickly approached the set of doors to the briefing room; the uniform, itself, felt slightly uncomfortable, only in the way that he felt marginally out of place. The Quartermaster had been so kind as to procure several Command Division uniforms for the newly appointed Executive Officer (former Chief Engineer) and had this particular one starched and pressed especially for this afternoon's Senior Staff briefing. Although accepting of the responsibilities the position entailed, he knew he'd eventually grow accustomed to the title.

Briskly entering the briefing room, the Lieutenant was surprised to find the vast majority of the Senior Staff already assembled. "Good afternoon." He stated simply as he nodded to each Officer on approach to the vacant seat to the left of the Captain's. He felt different today, perhaps more proud of his accomplishments that warranted such a drastic and giant leap in his career.

The Conference Empty Re: The Conference

Post by Navir October 8th 2010, 1:11 pm

With padd in hand Navir easily made his way towards the conference lounge without ever looking up. Having the layout of the ship already memorized and decent peripheral vision Navir read over the reports as well as ideas for experiments some of his staff had sent to him. So engrossed in what he was reading Navir walked in and took a seat at the table only looking away from the padd once he was settled. With a glance and a slight nod to the officers present he steepled his hands and waited for the conference to begin. However in taking in his surroundings he couldn't help but notice the CMO's manner. Quirking an eyebrow Navir wondered what had taken place that he had not heard of yet. From the glances she was occasionally giving the Commander, or poorly attempting to avoid, it wasn't hard to conclude something had transpired.

OOC: Please note I'll only be putting it together in my posts, don't do this please, you guys just reply like normal!

Observation Lounge, Deck 1
1400 hours, Day 2

Raiy strode into her lounge with an armful of PADDs, and a primp fresh uniform. Raiya gave Eun a small smile, hoping the women would take it as gesture that she didn't need to be afraid for her life after last night. Raiya still wasn't sure how she felt about the whole thing, and was probably going to have to talk with Eun a little more before her own emotions on the issue were sorted out.

Acel'ex walked in, briskly, feeling energized after his full night's sleep. He quickly glanced around, nodded toward the captain and the doctor, before taking a seat, diagonally opposite the doctor. Once seated he leaned back a bit, simply waiting for the meeting to begin.

Jay smiled at her, nodded, and took a seat next to the Chief Tactical and Security officer. "Nice to meet you, Lieutenant. I believe we'll be working closely in the coming days."

"So do I. I look forward to working with you and everyone, as a whole," said Acel'ex.

Raiya looked around the room, and saw that most of her staff, and XO were here, and made the decision to start.

"Alright then I guess it's time we got started than," She said, clearing her throat a little. She knew there was a human idiom about getting a play or show started at the beginning of meetings, her CO on Starbase 314 had said it often enough, but it had been to long for her to remember.
"So if you all look at your PADD's on the table,"She continued, brushing a stray lock of rich brown hair out of her face with one hand, and gesturing towards the PADD's sitting on the table with the other." You will see a copy of our current orders in detail, but let me sum it up for you; right now our orders are simply to take the ship to the Gateway at Union in the Raeyan Sector and from there to Task Force 38's area of operations in the Delta Quadrant. It's been decided by the powers that be that we will take a route going through the Klingon Empire to get there, in order to allow us to come together at crew before we're thrown into the mix. So any thoughts?"

Arun was intently reviewing the Perseus's deployment orders while listening to the Captain summarize the same; it intrigued him that they would be permitted passage through Klingon space. "Although the Klingon Empire remains a long-standing ally to the Federation, they remain autonomous, and as such, operate within their own loosely defined ethical regulations ... rightfully and respectfully so. I'm curious, who is it that has ensured us safe passage? And, will we be escorted or left to our own devices?" Arun inquired curiously as he placed the data PADD aside, hazel-colored eyes intent on the Captain.

The Conference Empty Re: The Conference

Post by Navir October 13th 2010, 1:20 pm

Having read over the orders Navir set the padd down before him. "Ally or no I find it a logical assumption that if not directly escorted we will be shadowed by a cloaked vessel or two. As to our safety I find it highly unlikely that one of the great houses would take direct action against a Star Fleet vessel." Glancing in the XO's direction Navir caught himself sizing the man up before continuing his thought. "However smaller houses or rogue groups looking for honor or a return to old ways may be a hindrance." He said turning his attention towards the Captain.

The Conference Empty Re: The Conference

Post by Raiya Laren October 14th 2010, 11:51 am

Raiya nodded to her science officer, glad to see that the man wasn't the type that got so lost in his work he ignored the reality around him.
"From what I understand we may have an honor escort of some form or another,"She said, responding to Arun's question," While the Empire is autonomous I'm sure you'll remember that they were allowed to freely traverse Federation space during the Dominion and since then operations in general between the Empire and Starfleet have gone up considerably, especially when it comes to the Raeya sector, and Starfleet's limited presence there. the escort is there to waylay any rogues, or minor house that might want to take advantage of the Perseus, from what I've learned I also gather that our new home;Task force 38 has had some issues with a few klingon houses in the past so we'll probably need to stay on our toes regardless."

The Conference Empty Re: The Conference

Post by Arunjezeb Ameen October 19th 2010, 7:21 am

Arunjezeb nodded, acknowledging Lieutenant Navir's statement as well as the Commander's. Although he didn't take great offense that his concerns were considered to be illogical by the Chief Science Officer, he did appreciate the alternative viewpoint. Arun considered himself to be a rather logical and linear thinker; as an engineer, such a mentality was a necessity in the field. Perhaps his own logic was not as finely-tuned as the Vulcan's, naturally. That might be a good starting point of discussion with the Lieutenant. He mused before replying.

"Excellent, as a precaution, might I recommend running at yellow alert during our trip through Klingon space?" He posed to the Captain.

Post by Raiya Laren October 22nd 2010, 11:54 am

"Sounds like a good idea,"She replied, although not without reservations. If there was any one species Raiya had respect for it was the Klingons, they had taken war to the Cardassians not long after the end of the Occupation, and before the Dominion War, and like many she hadn't batted an eyelash, much less felt sympathy for the Cardassian bastards. Not only that is was also a Klingon ship that had first picked up from the POW camp on Cardassia after the Dominion War had ended." Any other questions or concerns?"
