Appearance: Caucasian, athletic build. Somewhat ruddy complexion. A small scar behind left ear, from minor childhood mishap. Also has a miniature red, "half"- pantograph, exactly like the one on the power car of an Acela Express trainset.

Personality: Straightforward, sometimes brutally, honest. Enjoys a good joke and prank now and then, but while on duty, is all business. He can be quite social and friendly, a great asset in situations requiring diplomacy and tact.

Strengths: Excellent skills with most phaser types, adept at hand-to-hand combat, above-average diplomatic skills well-honed problem solving skills.

Weaknesses: Can be smart-mouthed, after consuming too much alcohol, prone to fastidiousness about pantograph

Ambitions: To be the best Starfleet Security Officer and one day rise through the ranks, perhaps to the Admiralty.

History: Jackson West was born, in New South Wales, Australia, to Peter and Margaret West, August 15, 2018. His childhood was relatively normal and he has two brothers, Ronald and Ian. Both are younger by 10 years and 6 years, respectively. The West family owned a small farm, primarily raising sheep. things were quite routine, until Jackson's senior year of high school, when Jackson had an encounter with the Thalaxians, during a visit, to The Sydney World Exposition, in October.

While there, he and his family were visiting the United States Pavilion, which had a display featuring the Acela Express high-speed train service, which had been greatly expanded, to cover the majority of the major interurban centers throughout the country. Jackson had wondered off, to get a better look at one of the Bombardier-Alstom power cars. While studying its power collection system, a tremendously intense blue energy beam penetrated the cavernous Pavilion's domed roof, streaked downward, striking the power car's raised pantograph. The beam then coursed through the pantograph, partially into the roof of the power car then exited it, straight at the top of Jackson's head! The force, knocked Mr. West about twenty feet away from the power car, momentarily knocking him unconscious.

While Jackson was unconscious, the beam settled on his head, formed a small vortex, stayed several seconds, then "retreated", back up, through the pantograph, eventually up to the cloaked Thalaxian vessel from which it came. Almost immediately, a robed Thalaxian, named Zo'lan appeared and surrounded the now-conscious Jackson West, in a personal cloaking "envelope" and proceeded to explain what had happened and why.

Zo'lan explained the physiological changes, which included the "mutating" of a miniature version of the power car's "half"-pantograph, which now "sat", retracted on Jackson's head. Other changes include a height increase of a foot, from 6'4" to 7'4", extended lifespan, which was one Thalaxian year for every one hundred years. Zol'lan also went on to explain the disadvantages of the pantograph itself, basically letting Jackson know it was his "Achilles heel" in many ways.

Once everything was explained and West was given an isolinear chip, modified to that century's computers, Zo'lan gave Jackson a new name, to reflect the infusion and acquisition of the pantograph. He was no to be called Acel'ex, combining "Acela" and "Express". Soon after the visitation ended, West approached his family and explained what happened, along with several witnesses, he'd brought along.

Over the next few months Acel'ex underwent extensive testing and questioning, by all manner of medical, law and governmental people, regarding what had happened that fateful day. Things eventually quieted down and Acel'ex lived a life, enhanced by the changes, brought on by the "encounter" and infusion. He even took on the role of crimefighter, for quite some time, in addition to working on the family sheep farm.

After several hundred years of doing this, he grew bored and decided to join Starfleet, which, by now, was firmly established. His acquired name, Acel'ex, was now common to many and therefore he fit in, so to speak. It was already the 24th Century and Acel'ex had followed Starfleet's progression. He really liked the idea of being among the stars and planets and felt that his special abilities could come in handy on a starship or base.

Acel'ex's Academy days were typical of a cadet, yet he did his best to complete the sometimes-grueling courses and keep himself physically fit, with workouts that would wither the average person! He also excelled in weapons training, reaching the level of marksman fairly quickly. Also Four years later, Acel'ex graduated Starfleet Academy with above average grades, ready for his first assignment.

Notes: Acel'ex is NOT immortal, despite his special abilities. He still needs to raise his pantograph to use them. One way to prevent access to special abilities, is to physically restrict the raising of his pantograph. Plus, Acel'ex can be hurt, just like anyone else, but he is able to "heal", by auto-regenerating his pantograph, if damaged or destroyed, or through modified regenerators "tuned" to his pantograph's "DNA".
