Appearance: Evan's fairly unassuming stature and facial features hide the mildly crazy individual below, and that's just how he wants it. His expression is perpetually hanging between perkily excited and a neutral calm, making it rather difficult to analyze his emotions based on outward appearance. Off-duty he usually is clad in blue jeans and a black leather coat over a white t-shirt, in the style of 1950's American greasers.

Personality: Evan is typically in what would be defined as a good mood, with a laid-back attitude towards life and a sense of humor dripping with sarcasm. He tends to care little about what he deems to be unneeded regulations, and has just barely avoided reprimands for insubordination over his short career.

Strengths: Evan's calm attitude and passive disposition serve him well in most situations, especially during rough flights where any panic could guarantee death. On the rare occasion he gets into a fight, Evan's also got a mean right hook.

Weaknesses: That passive attitude can piss off a lot of people, most notably his instructors and most of Evan's girlfriends, who got sick of him never acting like a rough-and-tumble, aggressive, controlling guy.

Ambitions: Evan wouldn't mind achieving some kind of command position in the future, but for now, he's content as a helmsman.

Hobbies & Interest: Evan has an odd obsession with digging up extremely corny 2D films from the late 20th and early 21st century, movies he refers to as being "so bad it's hilarious and entertaining". Besides this, he also enjoys a little soccer out on the holodeck, and is quite possibly the worst saxophone player in the galaxy.

History: Evan Spengler is a man who by all accounts should never have become a pilot. A native of Alpha Centauri, Evan was always expected to follow in the footsteps of every Spengler firstborn man since the 18th century and attend medical school, become a doctor and join the military as a surgeon, or in modern terms, Starfleet Medical.

But starting in his teenage years, Evan began to desire a different life. An interest in flying developed in him that grew into a determination to defy family tradition and go to the academy immediately out of High School and major in Flight Operations, rather than going through the full process of becoming a doctor. His parents were both greatly disappointed by this choice, a fact that only threw fuel onto the fire created by Evan's father being assigned to combat duty during most of the Dominion War.

On his 18th birthday, Evan was kicked out by his father following a massive argument where the young adult was adamant that he would not attend med school. Though he felt guilty about not living up to his father's dreams, Evan was glad to be free and caught a ride that same day to San Francisco, intent on enrolling at the academy.

Evan's instructors had low expectations from the get-go, with many assuming he could never amount to anything with his laid-back demeanor. Though he scored well in all subjects and quickly proved to be adept at piloting, his complete lack of stressed-out behavior and definite Type B personality did not win him many friends by his graduation in 2378, where he was promptly assigned to a secluded base built into Sol's asteroid field as a traffic controller along the least-used route through the belt.

With excitement at a premium, Evan did little in his time at the base, and seven years later was still just a junior lieutenant with no real future ahead. But in 2385, a lucky fluke finally gave Evan a chance to change his direction. During a routine flight back to base after a personnel transfer, the shuttle Evan was on was accidentally impacted by a piece of flying rock, instantly leaving the pilot incapatitated and knocking the autopilot offline.

While the rest of the passengers went into a panic, Evan calmly took control in the cockpit and deftly piloted the shuttle through an asteroid storm safely into dock. His quick action and skill at the helm was recognized by the base CO, who promptly awarded him with a promotion to Full Lieutenant and recommended a transfer to a starship.

A year later, after Evan had been made Assistant Chief of Flight Ops, a position opened up on the USS Perseus to be Chief of Flight Operations, and he accepted in a heartbeat. The still rather young Evan is now rather content to be at the helm of a starfleet vessel.
